Several months ago, hubby decided he wanted to try his hand at brewing the best cup of coffee. After some experimenting, we've concluded that the AeroPress method along with roasting the green coffee beans once a week is the way to go.

If you don't want to roast, I still recommend grinding whole beans on an as needed basis. There really is a difference. Really. You'll probably be stunned.

I will admit that when we started buying and roasting various kinds of green coffee beans, we were not really able to distinguish one "bean flavor" from another with any significance. Sure we may have liked one maybe better than the next, but we would look at each other and say, "it tastes like ... coffee!" However, aside from that, I will tell you that fresher really is better. You simply have to experience it. Just ask the handful of of those we've introduced to the "dark side"...
