monday, monday

Oops, today is Tuesday! Well, here's what happened on Monday... Amy and I decided to take off to the scrapbook store in Shallotte. Well one thing led another and we were gone about 4 hours. It was after 3:00 before we got home so I bailed on making an appearance on the beach.

On the menu for dinner was Spaghetti with a salad and garlic bread. Normally I would make the sauce from scratch but I decided to take the quicker route and jazz up a store bought sauce. Amy actually liked this idea because she wanted to get an idea of how to do this at home.

Since I'm still playing with adding photos to this whole blog thing, I decided to photograph the ingredients I used. Only thing not in the photo is some additional salt and a pinch or two of sugar. I completely forgot to take a picture of the finished plate.

After dinner we divided up into teams and had a rousing game of Pictionary. In the end, Adam and I won! Then Adam and I put together a 300 piece puzzle that he found in one of the cabinets. It only took us a couple of hours. Finished size of the puzzle was 2 feet by 3 feet.

Since it's pouring down rain again we'll probably have another game night instead of our traditional walk to the corner store for ice cream.

Thanks for reading! I'll keep you posted on what's cookin' for dinner tonight.

david's family leaves, wendy's family descends

Let me back up to Thursday of last week... The KY Pitts and the Sumter Pitts went to dinner in Calabash and ate at Beck's as predicted.  David and I went to a new small pub called Fibber McGee's.  Lynn decided to stay back and enjoy the solitude of the house for a short while.

Friday, David left shortly before lunch to head back to Charlotte.  On the way he stopped at the hunt club (Buchannan Shoals) to pick up his "man-buggy."  On Saturday he's going to the river and wants to move the vehicle there.  Saturday night it's Bill Gardner's Surprise 50th Birthday Party.  Debbie's been planning this for a long time.  I hate that I missed the event but the drive from the beach and back again would have been too much.  Plus, I know I would have ended up wanting to stay at the river.

Dinner on Friday night was more less "fend-for-yourself" again.  By 8:45 am Saturday morning, all but my nephew Adam and myself had headed back to their respectful homes & states.  Amy, Jeff & the boys arrived around 1:30p, we had hot dogs for lunch & then hit the beach.  For dinner we kept it simple and had Tacos, refried beans and chips & salsa.  My mom & dad arrived around 8:45p.

Sunday was spent mostly on the beach.  Jeff and I did make a grocery run that morning and on the menu for dinner was Grilled Pork Chops, Mashed Potatoes, Corn on the Cob & cucumbers in Italian dressing. Here's a pictures of my dad's plating skills... not too bad!

time for dinner

Wednesday was mine and David's night to cook dinner.  On the menu was Country Style Steak, rice and Pineapple Au Gratin. Must have been tasty as there was none left!

My back was much better than it was on Tuesday. So after the grocery store and getting the country style steak in the crockpot I hit the beach for about 3 hours.  It was much hotter than previous days and the breeze wasn't quite as breezy as I'd like but I'm not complaining.

It's raining again this morning but according to the radar it doesn't look like a whole lot at this time.  If the sun comes I will definitely become a beach bunny.

Tonight is "on your own" night for dinner.  David and I will probably go out to some place other than Beck's.  Beck's is a seafood restaurant in Calabash and every year most of the Pitts' pay homage.  A few years back David and I decided we would go in our own direction for a couple of reasons.  The main one being that I am not a big fan of seafood.

I guess that's about it for now.  I'll keep you posted on what's cookin'...

still playing around

I've been investigating this blog site and I'm still not sure about it.  It's almost like it has too many options for someone wanting to do something relatively simple.  But I'm still learning.  I think part of my problem is I don't know the "lingo."

John and Beverly are cooking a pot roast tonight.  The house is smelling good.

Tomorrow night I will probably be fixing country style steak with rice & green beans.  But that could change so tune in tomorrow.

I'll keep you posted on what's cooking...

playing with a new blog

David wants me to try some new blog program.  It's a little more complicated than blogspot but you can also do more with it.  I'm only working on a 14 day trial copy. I've been playing around seeing how to add links & such here's one to a recipe I fixed at the managers strategic meeting:  Country Style Steak.
